About this tool
A good coloring page is not a good drawing with the colour removed. It is a drawing built out of closed shapes: every region a crayon might land in has an unbroken outline around it, so the colour has somewhere to stop. Open contours are what make a page feel unsatisfying to fill. That is why the prompt this tool sends asks explicitly for black lines only, a white background, high contrast and no shading — grey tone is the enemy of a printable page, because a laser printer turns soft grey into muddy dots that fight whatever you colour on top.
Prompts that work are short, concrete and physical: one subject, one setting, one action. A cat playing with yarn beats a whimsical magical world full of creatures having an adventure every time, because the model has to resolve fewer competing objects and the outlines stay separable. If you want something with real structure behind it, borrow a composition from art history — the flat silhouettes and clear contours of the most famous paintings of all time translate to line art unusually well, and asking for a sunflower still life in a heavy clay jug gives you a page with a composition somebody already spent a lifetime getting right.
For printing: plain paper is fine for crayons and pencils, but use at least 160 gsm if anyone will reach for markers or watercolour, or the page buckles and bleeds through. Yes. There is no account, no sign-up and no limit. Only the words you type are sent to the image model; nothing is uploaded from your device and no page you make is stored on our side.
How long does a page take to generate?
Usually 15 to 30 seconds. The free image service queues requests, so busy periods are slower. If nothing arrives after a minute the tool stops waiting and offers Try Again.
Why did my page come out grey or shaded?
Image models sometimes add soft grey tone even when asked for outlines only. Press Regenerate for a different draw of the same prompt, and check under More options that Boost lines is on — it forces every pixel to either pure black or pure white.
What size does it print at?
1024 by 1024 pixels, square, which fits A4 or US Letter with room for a margin. Under More options you can switch the paper to Portrait or Landscape. Set your print dialog to Fit to page with margins on.
Can I use the coloring pages in a classroom or for a party?
Yes. Print and hand out as many as you like for classrooms, birthdays, waiting rooms or care homes. The pages are generated for you on the spot, so nobody else has the same sheet.
Why does Download sometimes open a new tab instead of saving a file?
The page draws the image into a canvas so it can save a PNG and apply Boost lines. If the image server refuses cross-origin access the browser locks the canvas, and the tool opens the raw image in a new tab instead, where you can right-click and save it.
